The 2011 Christmas Parade was held this morning under cloudy skies in Mount Gambier.

A regular feature on the Mount Gambier calendar, the parade proceeds west on what is usually a busy Commercial Street full of Saturday morning shoppers.

The crowds this year were slow to gather because of the forecast rain, but by the time the parade started at 11:30am Commercial Street was packed with people of all ages.

The inaugural President’s Cup Bocce Tournament was held yesterday, Sunday 30 October 2011, at the Mount Gambier Italo Australian Club.

The President’s Cup bocce tournament was held to encourage less experienced players to come and play with those more experienced. Many of the rules were relaxed, allowing everyone to play without having to know the technical details of the bocce game.

Daughter of the first president of the Mount Gambier Italo Australian Club, Rosella Bidese, presented medals and a trophy to the winners.

Winners of the first President’s Cup were F Morello, G Pasquazzi and L Rossi. Runners up were S Manfrin, V Zaccardo and G Margiotta, while the team of F Iarossi, R Iarossi and M Zaccardo came in third.
