Rex Airlines is working with the organisers of AUSTimber 2012 to provide a transport solution for those who wish to visit Mount Gambier for the expo. Following negotiations over the past few months, General Manager of AUSTimber 2012, Mr David Quill met with Ms Sandi Watkins, State Manager of Rex Airlines in Mount Gambier in late December to determine possible solutions to the transport difficulties experienced with the AUSTimber 2008 event. Ms Watkins stated that it is fabulous that Mount Gambier can host such a world recognised conference in Mount Gambier, which provides the region with a great influx of visitors who hopefully go home and tell their friends and colleagues what treasures the South East of South Australia has to offer. Regional Express is happy to work with AUSTimber 2012 to ensure adequate air transportation is provided to Mount Gambier from both Adelaide and Melbourne for delegates and visitors to the 2012 event, expected to be larger and more spectacular than AUSTimber 2008. Mr Warrick Lodge, General Manager - Network Strategy & Sales said "Rex understands the importance of the conference to the local Mount Gambier region and will do all that it can to schedule additional services. We will also look at bringing in aircraft from other parts of the Rex network if the existing surplus aircraft in Melbourne and Adelaide is not sufficient." Mr Lodge concluded by saying that "I am certain that we will be able to work up a plan in during 2011" Significant increases in air seat availability, coupled with planned coach services and improved accommodation management, are all part of the planning for the 2012 extravaganza. |
