Individuals, community, farmers, youth leaders and organisations in our community have the chance to be recognised through a new awards program The Australian Rural and Outback Awards.

Mayor Ken Grundy, Naracoorte Lucindale Council said: "These Awards will provide a great avenue for our many hardworking farmers, community members, youth and organisations, with the opportunity to be recognised and thanked for their work in our regional town."

Nominations are now open in five categories:

  • The Canberra Institute of Technology Business, Training and Employment Award;
  • The Farm Biosecurity Award;
  • The Rural Skills Australia, Agricultural and Rural Development Award;
  • The Department of Defence Youth Leadership Award; and
  • The Golden Circle Health and Community Services Award.

The winner will share in a huge $10,000 prize money supported by Traditional Credit Union; all category winners also receive a magnificent hand crafted glass trophy, presented by Imparja and The Department of Defence.

"As an inspiring rural community, I am sure we have many worthy contenders in the area. If you would like to reward, recognise and encourage one of our many rural achievers nominate now, nomination forms are available from all sponsors and our Naracoorte Lucindale Council."

The Australian Rural and Outback Awards are presented by Imparja Television and The Department of Defence.
