There are just over 2 weeks until nominations close in this year's inaugural Australian Rural & Outback Awards. Nominations close on Friday 10 July 2009.

Katrina Wills, Tourism Media and Projects Officer, of Naracoorte Lucindale Council, is urging local achievers not to miss out on being nominated for this award.

"We have an active, vibrant community and plenty of achievers we should be putting forward through this year's Awards. Through this new opportunity for recognition, we can continue to strengthen and build on the successes of our people and community - nominate someone today" said Katrina.

Katrina continued, "There are many individuals, organisations and businesses worthy of recognition in rural and outback areas for their tireless dedication or outstanding achievements and it's up to you to nominate them now!"

There are five categories in the Australian Rural & Outback Awards. They are:

  • The Canberra Institute of Technology Business, Training and Employment Award;
  • The Farm Biosecurity Award;
  • The Rural Skills Australia, Agricultural and Rural Development Award;
  • The Department of Defence Youth Leadership Award; and
  • The Golden Circle Health and Community Services Award.

The winner will share in a $10,000 prize pool supported by Traditional Credit Union; all category winners also receive a magnificent hand crafted glass trophy.

Imparja Television and The Department of Defence are proud to be able to reward our Outback Achievers through this year's Awards.

Nomination forms are available from the offices of Naracoorte Lucindale Council. For more information please contact the Awards Office on 1300 735 445.
