In Women's Hockey Division 1, three teams are fighting for the premiership, with any of the top three capable of taking top spot in the coming weeks.

Last years grand finalists Naracoorte and Redbacks are not dominating like last year, Redbacks may even miss the finals. Redbacks had back to back premierships in 2006 and 2007 and lost to Naracoorte in last years grand final.

In 2009 Naracoorte has scored the most goals of all the teams, with Fiona Goldsworthy, Shannon Elsden and Jackie Sunderland contributing towards the total. However, Naracoorte have not won as many as last year, but can not be under estimated as the finals get closer.

West last won a premiership in 2005 and are keen to get back up their with Michelle Clarke, Leanne Ballintyne and Carly Emerson all scoring well.

Tigers have been just missing the finals for a few years and have built a good team now and are sitting top, with Teena McKee, Karly Johnston and Codie Jones all scoring well.

Strikers have won enough to get into the finals and just have to keep it together in the last rounds and if they can find a few more goals like they did in a 5/3 win over Naracoorte recently then they can be a contender.

Redbacks have to play each week as a grand final now and hope that Strikers can not find another win.

In the head to head in top three Tigers are 1 all and a draw with West and 1 all with Naracoorte, West are 2/1 down with Naracoorte, so it is very close.

This week on Sunday Tigers take on Naracoorte in what could be the decider for top spot, while West has the bye and Strikers play Redbacks for the last spot in the top 4 on Friday night.
