Results and reports from Mount Gambier Netball Association games played on Saturday 17 July 2010:


Saints 47 - Intruders 17

Saint and Intruders played a mid week game this round which saw them head onto the court with unsavoury weather. This did little to dampen the determination of the teams and a solid game was played out in difficult conditions.

With a handy lead Saints swapped their team around at half time giving Helen Ferguson a shot in the goal ring with Sam Primmer.

Intruder's defenders Caitlyn Grubb and Sally Shaw had their work cut out for them and worked hard all game. The young Intruders side were able to lift their game in the second half.

Megan Ridding once again proved her worth in defence and earned her place in the best players together with playing Coach Sam Primmer.

Sally Shaw and Kelsie Grubb were both awarded best players respectively for their side.


Zodiacs 42 - Nomads 22

Zodiacs had a convincing win over Nomads on Saturday. Goalie Jenna Smith had a good day in the ring scoring more than her share of the goals and combined well with Yvette Holmes. Bonnie Carson had a good game in Wing Attack feeding into her goalies.

Nomads had their share of the ball and were able to stay within reach of Zodiacs. Nomad's goalies Narelle Phillips and Fiona Millard working hard in the ring coming with five goals of Zodiacs at half time but Zodiacs were able to extend their lead in the last half.

Suzanne Lowe earned best player for Zodiacs together with Bonnie Carson and for Nomads Susie Koopman and Michelle Stephens were chosen as best.


Tarpeena 38 - Vicis 23

In a physical game Tarpeena lead at every change. Mandy Richardson scored most of Tarpeena's goals being well fed by Amie Brant, Donna Gray, Tiffany Anderson and Emma Carpenter.

Tarpeena's defence worked hard all game pressuring the Vicis attack at all times. Kayla Gray and Meighan Hunter helped by Sumira Amin created lots of turnovers.

Vicis were best served by Charity Selleck and Ami Black and they never gave up all match.

Tarpeena's best were Sumira Amin and Mandy Richardson.


Hobitz 44 - South 37

A very close game was played by South and Hobitz on Saturday. Hobitz had a jump start on the game that set them up for the eventual win.

Tania Horrigan leading a great campaign in goals for Hobitz combined with fellow goalie Amber Siebert.

South's Nicole Pilven and Emily McPharlan worked hard in defence together with Brittany Denton in wing defence and Cindy Burford in centre.

South were able to stay within reach of the game but the good start that Hobitz made in the first quarter set them up for the game.

Felicity Walker and Sarah Ford were tireless workers for the South contingent earning best players respectively for their side.

The big haul by Tania Horrigan earned her first spot in best players together with fellow goalie Amber Siebert.
