The Mount Gambier Netball Association will host its first final this Saturday, 29 August 2009. On Sunday 30 August, the Junior and Senior medal counts take place.

In A Grade, Saints will play Intruders for a spot in the Grand Final. Zodiacs Blue take on Zodiacs Gold, with the winner to play the loser of the Saints - Intruders game.

The A Grade competition will see Saints meet Intruders in the first semi final. Intruders have had a largely inconsistent season and even with the inclusions of Janine Megaw in the side this won't be enough to topple Saints. With the exemplary run of the Saints side so far this season this should see them come out on top and take them through to the Grand Final which is set down for 12 September 2009.

Zodiacs Blue and Zodiacs Gold will fight it out in the second semi final on Saturday. The Zodiacs Club have fought hard to maintain their two sides in the A grade competition. Both sides have shown vast improvement and had their share of wins, but with the strength and determination of the Blue team this should see them through to take the win and go onto the next round of finals.

A2 Grade

In the A2 grade Intruders Orange faces off against sister side Intruders Black. This will be a tight competition but Intruders Orange has remained on top for the majority of the season and should be too strong for Intruders Black.

A competitive game will be played when South Gambier meet the Saints in the second Semi Final. Both teams have players who have played finals netball so this should set both teams in good stead for the final series. Only one point separated the teams on the ladder after last week's round of games which indicate the strength of both sides. South Gambier boast Denise Mansell in their side is an experienced finals campaigner and this will assist with them coming out on top.

B Grade

Tarpeena will be looking toward the premiership flag when they go up against Nomads White. Whilst it will be a close competition between the two teams Tarpeena boast players in the side from the A grade competition last year including Jillian Little, and this should see them strong enough go up against Nomads White successfully.

The second Semi Final is set to be a great game with rivals Saints and Hobitz. Saints are the reigning premiers and will be determined to make this back to back and should end the Hobitz team's hope of a Grand Final berth.

ASSOCIATION MEDAL COUNT

This Sunday, 30 August 2009, the Mount Gambier Netball Association will hold its Medal Count.

The Junior Netball count begins at 11:00 am at the Association Club Rooms followed by a light lunch. The highlight of the day, the Senior Netball count, will then follow.

The A grade competition will be interesting with many players highlighted throughout the season. Tania Thompson is tipped to be a stand out with a fantastic performance throughout the year together with Megan Ridding.

Sally Harfull for Zodiacs Blue has had an amazing season, featuring in the best players and representing her club well.

Young Querida Harmer has made her A Grade netball debut and featured strongly in the Zodiacs Gold side. Harmer has combined well with fellow player Yvette Holmes who should also have her share of the votes for her team.

President Tracey Brown will be the compare of the function and a strong emphasis by The Mount Gambier Netball Association is to celebrate the commitment of their Life Members and acknowledge their contribution. A new Life Member was added last year with the induction of Sue Wischki for her service and dedication to the Mount Gambier Netball Association.
