The new Australian marathon champion, and one time local lad, Dale Engler is to compete in the running program at the RSL Mount Gambier Classic. Dale, a previous winner in the 1600m A event will be back to compete in the same distance, giving locals a chance to see him in action.

Exposure to southern ocean swells and strong prevailing winds will make Robe, South Australia, the perfect setting for this year's Australian Kitesurf Nationals to be held from 21 to 25 October 2009.
Anthony Moore, organiser of the event, said that judges will be looking for aerials, speed, power and style over five days of spectator-friendly action.

The new sailing season gets underway this weekend at the Port MacDonnell Sailing Club with an open day starting at 12:00 pm on Saturday 24 October 2009.
All hands were on deck for the last two Saturdays, with club members scrapping barnacles, swabbing the decks and polishing the brass bell in preparation for the start of this year's sailing season.

The Junior Sports Assistance Fund has made a donation of $450 to Mount Gambier District Little Athletics Centre on behalf of Jamie McInerney.
Jamie has been selected to represent the Wheelchair Sports Association of South Australia Junior and Youth Team to compete at the Australian Paralympic Youth Games, which will be held in Melbourne from 5 to 11 October 2009.
