The South East Women's Football Association held its awards night at Casadio Park, Mount Gambier.

The major award presented on the night was the season's Best & Fairest. The Senior award was won by Tess Andrews, while the Under 14 award was won my Monique Iannella.

Palace's Tess Andrews tonight claimed SEWFA's Best and Fairest in an end of season awards ceremony at Casadio Park.

Tess took the lead in the points count mid way through the season, and gradually drew away from runner up, Villa's Monique Iannella.

The final matches for the SEWFA season were played out at Blue Lake Sports Park last Saturday in warm weather which suited spectators, but made playing conditions difficult, especially considering the wind factor, with 7 of the 8 goals of the day scored at one end of the pitch.

Wanderers took out the Under 14 Grand Final, while Palace came from behind to take out the Seniors game. SEWFA took out the exhibition match against a side from Warrnambool.

Palace youngster Imogen Pratt kicked the winning goal late in the second period of extra time to give her side victory in the South East Women's Football Association (SWEFA) Grand Final of 2009. It was the third Grand Final win in three years for Palace.

City started the game with a strong breeze at their backs, with Tania Grant putting City ahead mid way through the first half. Kale Pedlar equalised for Palace during second half, with Imogen Pratt's extra time winner sealing the game for Palace.

SEWFA's Grand Finals will take place this Saturday afternoon, 12 September 2009.

To start proceedings, Wanderers will face Villa in the Under 14 fixture at 12:00 pm. Often playing short of players has not deterred Villa from displaying quality football during the year, nor has it often affected the match results. However, Wanderers will call upon its reserves this weekend and their fresh legs may make an impact on the game.

Success for Western Border Girls E-mail

The Western Border Soccer Association sent a number of junior teams to Port Lincoln for the weekend's State Junior Country Soccer Championships.

It was a successful journey for the Western Border Girls, with the Under 16s winning the State Country title without conceding a goal, and the Under 13s finishing runners up to Adelaide Hills.
