Members of the Italo Australian Club will this weekend vote on a major development, which is proposed for Casadio Park, Mount Gambier.

The proposed development has been drawn for the western side of Casadio Park, and will be funded by a combination of existing funds, government grants, and borrowings from within the club. There will be no external borrowings.

The facilities offered by the new development will be among the best sporting facilities that Mount Gambier has to offer. The main part of the building will include tiered seating, modern dressing rooms, a separate gym, a canteen and dining area, as well as a sponsors room. Spectators will be able to view the soccer match largely protected from the prevailing westerly weather.

On the southern side of the main building, the proposed development includes six new international sized bocce lanes. Bocce has a small but growing following in Mount Gambier, and the new facilities will rival the best Europe has to offer.

Also included in the development is the construction of a second soccer pitch on vacant land to the west of the new building. Its main use will be a training pitch, however it will be of sufficient standard to host matches in its own right.

Mixed views on the development have been expressed by Italo Australian Club members. Some members say that the protection from Mount Gambier's winter weather offered by the new development can't come soon enough, while others will find it hard to move away from the traditional eastern side of Casadio Park.

The meeting of members will be held this Sunday, 4 October 2009, during the International Soccer Club's 50th Anniversary Celebrations.
