International Soccer Club showed their depth when they beat Naracoorte United in Round 3 of the Shadows Belgiorno Cup to go top of their pool. With Inter already qualifying for the Semi Finals to be played later in the season there was more at stake for Naracoorte, as a win or a draw would see them through as the unlikely second placed team after their surprising win against Millicent United last week. Inter fielded a very undermanned team, with player unavailability and injury keeping out Adam Osman, Joel Redfern, Rob Manfrin, Marcus Morony, Christian Cella, Ricky McRobert and Ryan Lewis. Even with an inexperienced team, Inter still looked the most likely to win and showed the strength and depth they have in the Club and Team. The game took 15 minutes to settle into a rhythm, after which Inter took control when Barry McCoy, playing with renewed confidence with every game he plays, opened the scoring when from an individual run he beat the Naracoorte defence and drilled the ball passed a hapless Naracoorte goalkeeper. Youngster Matt Bueti, starting his first senior A grade game, scored 2 goals in quick succession. His first came when his never give up attitude led him to follow through on the goalkeeper, whose clearance rebounded off Bueti, and gave the Inter striker an easy tap in. Bueti scored his second with 10 minutes to go in the half, when again his pace was too much for the Naracoorte defence to contain. His second goal gave Inter a 3 nil lead at half time. The second half allowed the Inter coach Tony D'Agostino to change a few players around, and he replaced Rich Vorwerk with Joe Nieto. The Inter midfield continued to dominate, ably led by Captain Dante Bonner and Dave Galloway. With hard running by Andrew Ielasi, Chris Williams and Adam Craig they provided many good opportunities for their team mates. Dave Galloway got Inter going again in the second half, when he smartly took a very quick free kick, which caught the Naracoorte defence and most of the crowd napping. His shot landed comfortably into the back of the net before any Naracoorte player even moved. Chris Williams was given an opportunity to have a run up forward, and he didn't let the chance slip as he got his name on the score board, and gave his team a 5 nil lead. Matt Bueti completed his hat trick, which was closely followed up by an unfortunate own goal by a Naracoorte defender. By this time Inter were in cruise control. The scoring ended for the day when inspirational leader Dante Bonner scored a great goal, and gave Inter an 8 nil victory.
