The game between ladder leaders International and the strong running Millicent United was expected to be a very tight contest, however the game ended up with a resounding 7 nil win to Inter.

With Inter winning their last two encounters this year by the solitary goal, most people were expecting a similar result.

Both teams had early chances, with Inter attacking with speed, but it had to thank their goalkeeper Brett Reid that the score remained 0 - 0, when from a fast break, Cameron Saint sent the ball towards Matt Grgetic, who cleverly headed the ball over the head of Reid, but Reid's quick footwork and reflexes had him tip the ball over the bar and out for a corner.

This sparked the Inter team, and with in minutes had created the opening goal. With some good passing between Dave Galloway and Dante Bonner, they found the hard running Joel Redfern making a perfect run into the penalty area where the Millicent defence were forced to stop him illegally before he could have a shot at goal, resulting in a penalty kick. With the normal penalty taker Marcus Morony missing the game suspended, the responsibility and pressure fell to Adam Osman, who made it look easy as he scored to give Inter a 1 - 0 lead.

The game was being played at a furious pace, but with the opening goal settling some their nerves, Inter began mounting more attacks, and again the Sampson like attacker Christian Cella found himself scoring, when Dave Galloway easily beat his defender, then drove a pass into the path of youngster Matt Bueti who hit a first time shot that the Millicent keeper could only parry, leaving Cella with an easy tap in from the rebound and this provided his team a comfortable 2 - 0 lead.

The Millicent team continued to worry Inter with some fast breaks, but the solid Inter defence lead by Chris Williams, Adam Craig and Rob Manfrin were up to the task.

Young Inter forward Matt Bueti was playing an inspirational game up front, and his hard work was rewarded when he got his name on the scorecard at the 30-minute mark. Again with some hard running from Adam Osman, he found Bueti on the edge of the penalty box, who then showed maturity beyond his years to hit a volley past a gallant Millicent goalkeeper, giving him no real chance of saving it.

Inter could have been further ahead, when Joel Redfern found some space to run into, but the brilliance of the Millicent goalkeeper kept the score at 3 - 0 to Inter at half time.

Barry McCoy was introduced into the game after injury forced the replacement of Andrew Ielasi. McCoy demonstrated his flexibility, as he found himself having to defend as well as attack. Inter were dominating in all areas, especially with a fine display by Dave Galloway, Joel Redfern and Dante Bonner.

Millicent United through everything at Inter, with Brett Dibley working hard in the back and giving their forwards some opportunities. Matt Grgetic continued to push his team forward, but was fighting a losing battle.

At the 20-minute mark of the second half, Matt Bueti became the first player to score twice. Joel Redfern displayed some outstanding skills when he acrobatically did an overhead kick that again for the third week running hit the cross bar. Matt Bueti was at the right place to header the ball into the net.

Christian Cella proved why he is much more that just a goalscorer with his constant running at the opposition. On one of these runs, he beat two Millicent defenders, then calmly rounded the keeper, unselfishly did the team thing and passed the ball in front of goal, where coming in with speed was Dave Galloway who buried the ball into an unguarded goal.

Coach Tony D'Agostino rested Christian Cella and Captain Dante Bonner, and introduced Tony Bueti and Ash Morris.

Chris Williams scored the best goal of the game, when within seconds of going forward displayed skill that his forwards would have been proud of. Receiving a pass from Adam Osman, Williams turned, and in one motion curled a 20 metre shot into the top right hand corner of the goal, sending the huge crowd into raptures.

A highlight of the day's play was an unbelievable 20 metre drive by Inter defender Marcus Benjamin, that cannoned a shot into the bottom corner of the net, leaving the goalkeeper no chance, as he stood there motionless and watched the ball go into the goal.

Man of the Match, Adam Osman was rewarded for persistent running all day, when he scored his second of the game, when he received a pass from Chris Williams, then dribbled passed the Millicent defence and side footed a shot into the goal, ending the scoring for Inter at 7 - 0.
